3) The Union Government on 20 August 2017 gave more financial powers to which entity with the primary aim of strengthening the road infrastructure in the border with China? – Border Roads Organisation (BRO)

Explanation: The Defence Ministry on 20 August 2017 empowered officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) with enhanced financial powers. This was done primarily to improve the speed of work in the Indo-China border roads along the northern borders.

The earlier financial powers permitted a Chief Engineer to approval “departmental works” up to Rs. 10 crore, and the ADGBR (Assistant Director General Border Roads) up to Rs. 20 crore.
