1) What is RBI’s dividend payout for the year ended 30 June 2017 as was announced by the RBI on 10 August 2017? – Rs.30,659 crore

Explanation: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 10 August 2017 announced that it would pay Rs. 30,659 crore as a dividend to the Union Government. This amount is less than half the surplus it transferred the previous year (Rs. 65,876 crore) and is thus expected to potentially affect govt.’s fiscal math this financial year.

The reason for this decrease in dividend payout was not explained by the RBI. However economists are of the view that lower returns from the central bank’s foreign asset holdings, the costs of demonetisation and managing the increasing liquidity in the banking system – are some possible reasons for this.
